Six day trip
Embark on a six-day hut-to-hut adventure, traversing pristine wilderness from the serene shores of Wilderness Lake to the heart of Nuk Tessli. Each day offers breathtaking alpine landscapes, secluded trails, and cozy backcountry huts, making for an unforgettable journey through the untamed beauty of British Columbia.
Day 1 | Tuesday | Wilderness Lake and Moonlight Glacier
You'll start the day with a morning float plane flight from Nimpo Lake to Wilderness Lake.
After making a quick lunch, Moonlight Glacier will be the main goal for today.
A two hour hike and about 200 meters elevation gain will get you to Moonlight Glacier and Moonlight Lakes.
A beautiful terrain with colourful glacial lakes, a big ice face and a stunning view.
A perfect place for lunch.
After exploring the area and it's beauty, you'll head back to Wilderness cabin.
Day 2 | Wednesday | Flat Top Mountain
Today is all about getting up Flat Top Mountain and earning those beautiful views.
The day will start with a 450 meter climb along the creek and up to the Flat Top plateau.
The Monarch Mountain will be visible from here and the small alpine lake (Flat Top Lake) on top of Flat Top is a perfect place to cool down a bit before continuing up another 150 meters to the middle pyramid.
The view from up here is incredible. A 360 degree view all around.
We can see the massive peaks of the Coastal Mountains, Nuk Tessli and more.
Day 3 | Thursday | Hiking to Nuk Tessli
The 11 km hike to Nuk Tessli is beautiful with quite changing terrain.
Starting with hiking in the alpine with the Nuk Tessli area in front of us, then going into the forest and along the river.
From there you'll continue through a short section of a burnt forest which will surprise you. With new vegetation and wildflowers all over, it is a very unique scenery.
The trail continues along octopus lake and finally gets to Nuk Tessli Lake (Whitton Lake).
Here you'll find canoes and a short paddle will get you to Nuk Tessli.
Days 4 - 6 | Friday - Sunday | Hiking at Nuk Tessli
For this part of your hut to hut trip, it's time to explore Nuk Tessli.
You have three full days and the are many hiking/canoeing options:
If you're up for longer days with spectacular alpine views, Angelheart Lake and Avalanche Ridge are two beautiful hiking days.
If you're looking for something more moderate, North Pass Lake Loop and The Mammaries are great options.
We also highly recommend checking out at least one of our canoeing days - Boundary Lake and The Three Brothers.
The best part? No need to portage!
Days 7 | Monday | Flying back to Nimpo Lake
It's time to say goodbye and fly back to Nimpo Lake.
Your flight will leave Nuk Tessli around 10:00-11:00 and take you back to civilization.
